2008 UTV Rally Challenge Rules
All rules are intended to meet the safety requirements to provide a safe and competitive Event. Any modification or addition to these Rules is prohibited, unless changed by the by the series Technical Director. Any deviation from the Rules will result in disqualification from the Event or the series.
GENERAL RULES
1. NO Spectator or Pit riding permitted.
2. Riders are responsible for the actions of their entire pit crew.
3. Riders will be disqualified for riding a course during the 7 days prior to the first day of the event.
REGISTRATION
1. Riders may only enter one race per day.
2. Riders under the age of 18 must provide a photo I.D with proof of age upon request by an official, and be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at registration.
3. Riders must register for the race before riding their machine anywhere, may not exceed 1st gear idle when traveling to/from their pit area, and must always wear a helmet. Warm-up riding is limited to the start area and only after an official has given permission and the rider has registered for the event.
4. All machines and rider helmets must be taken through Tech Inspection prior to racing for the purpose of inspecting number assignment, and contingency eligibility. Safety equipment and machine eligibility are the sole responsibility of the rider.
MACHINE ELIGIBILITY AND CLASSIFICATION
1. Seatbelts and roll cages are required on all machines.
2. All machines must have silencers.
3. The machine a driver leaves the starting line on is the official machine of the driver for that event, and may not be switched during the event.
4. No rider is allowed to carry gasoline except inside his machine's fuel tank.
5. All machines must have a working kill switch
Race eligibility can be determined at any time by the Technical Director
Production Rule:
OEM motor and matching frame combination model required. Frame geometry must remain as designed by the OEM.
Modified
Production models. Engine and suspension modifications permitted.
Limited
Production models. The following limited items can be changed or added: tires, wheels, bumpers, skid plates, air box, filter, CDI box and exhaust. No other suspension or internal motor modifications permitted.
Classes
700 Class: (0-700cc) Limited Open Class: (701-1000) Limited
700 Class: (0-700cc) Modified Open Class: (701-1000) Modified
RIDER ELIGIBILITY AND CLASSIFICATION
All classes require a driver and passenger.
Driver switches during the race are not permitted
Seat belts must be securely fastened on both occupants at all times.
Helmets must be worn by both Driver and passenger.
Eye Protection must be worn by both Driver and passenger.
Helmets
A. Helmets must be of the type approved by DOT or Snell. Straps must have D-ring fasteners only.
B. The interior and exterior areas of the helmet must be free of defects (i.e., the padding must be in good condition and the exterior of the helmet must not be damaged).
STAGE START AND FININSH PROCEDURE
1. Driver and navigator shall line up on the line with there assigned starting position 15 minutes before the start of the rally
2. The Riders Meeting will be conducted on the starting line before the start of each race. All riders are responsible for attending.
3. All starts are with engine running NO ONE with be able to start if they not deemed to be ready by a official
a. You will be given a 30 SECOND notice to start then a 10 SECOND and then be counted down FIVE, FOUR, THREE, TWO, ONE, AND GO
b. This is a timed event so at the end of each special section you will have finish line (ie flying finish) then a stop line where you will be given your time.
YOU MUST STOP AT THIS LINE
C. there will be as many as 6 to 12 stage in one rally event through out the course of a day totaling appox 50miles
THE COURSE
1. A course may include trails, footpaths, roads, hills, motocross tracks, or any type of terrain which can be negotiated by a UTV.
2. The course will be open to inspection on Saturday after 3:00 p.m. Participants are permitted to walk or bicycle the course only.
3. Marking, cutting, tampering with or otherwise changing the course in any manner is strictly prohibited. Course modifications may only be made by an official.
4. No one, except officials and riders officially entered, may ride on the race course at any time during the event.
